Question: I teach in a Talmud Torah, and sometimes we take trips to visit the graves of tzaddikim. Some of the children (under Bar Mitzvah age) are kohanim. Do they need to be warned not to enter?

Answer: Shulchan Aruch (Yoreh De’ah 373) rules that just as a kohen is forbidden from becoming impure through contact with the dead, he is also responsible for ensuring that minor kohanim do not become impure. Therefore, parents must be careful that children who are kohanim do not enter the gravesites of tzaddikim at all.
