Question: If a person is at home without a kippah, can they recite a blessing by placing their hand on their head?
Answer: It is not permitted to recite a blessing by merely placing one’s hand on their own head. Instead, they should cover their head with a garment or something else, or ask someone else to place their hand on their head. While there are opinions that allow using one's forearm to cover the head, the accepted halacha is to follow the stricter view and use only the methods mentioned above.
